Army Commander visits forward areas in Rajouri

JAMMU, Aug 16: Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, Army Commander, Northern Command, accompanied by the White Knight Corps Commander, Lt Gen Saranjeet Singh visited forward areas of Rajouri Sector to review the operational preparedness and the prevailing security situation.
During the visit to the sector, the Army Commander was briefed by the commanders on ground about the current operational and prevailing security situation and the preparedness of the formations in dealing with the same.
The Army Commander also interacted with the soldiers and complimented them for their dedication to duty and high standard of professionalism. He was appreciative of the measures and standard operating procedures instituted by the units and formations in their area of responsibility. The need to be prepared for effectively meeting emerging security challenges was also reinforced. He exhorted all ranks on the need to remain vigilant to counter the nefarious designs of the inimical and anti- national elements.
The Army Commander was also updated by the White Knight Corps Commander on current security situation and operations conducted in the recent past.
Meanwhile, a search operation was launched near the Line of Control (LoC) today over reported suspicious movement in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, police officials said.
The security personnel launched a search operation in a village close to LoC in the Nowshera sector based on reports of suspected movement, they said.
The operation was on when reports last came in, they said.
Earlier, the Army had foiled an infiltration bid along the LoC in this sector yesterday in which one jawan was injured, according to officials.
