#Adopts resolution for retention of Article 35A

Jammu, Aug 19: A one day convention was organized today at Sher-i-Kashmir Bhawan, Jammu by National Conference Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes Cell under the chairmanship of former minister and Chairman of the Cell Babu Ram Paul. The convention was attended by hundreds of people from the Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes community, wherein, a resolution was moved, adopted and unanimously passed in support of the Article 35A to preserve the integrity, unity and diversity of the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir i.e., Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
While addressing the convention Babu Ram Paul said that Article 35A is the vanguard of the Article 370 hence cannot be abrogated at any cost. He said that the National Conference stands in support of the Article 370 and Article 35A to keep intact the identity of people of the State. Babu Ram Paul threw light upon the visionary action taken by the Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah for uplifting the down trodden section of the society. He said that land to tiller was his landmark action that the down trodden section should never forget. Babu Ram Paul said that Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah are carrying forward the legacy of Sher-i-Kashmir. He also appealed people to strengthen the hands of the Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Mr Omar Abdullah.
Besides this a threadbare discussion was held regarding the upcoming elections to the Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). Babu Ram Paul asked the workers to gear up its cadres as the elections to ULBs and Panchayats can be announced anytime. He asked the workers especially to the reserved communities to reach out to the people and aware them regarding the policies of the National Conference. He further asked the cadres to work day in and out for better outcome in the Panchayat and ULBs elections. The issue of the unemployed youth especially of the Jammu province was also discussed and it was demanded that those at the verge of touching the age limit should immediately be absorbed in the government services through special recruitment drives.
While addressing the convention various speakers raised the issue of reservation in promotion which is sub-judice in the Apex Court due to the negligent approach of the previous PDP-BJP regime. On the occasion many prominent citizens from other political parties joined the National Conference. Babu Ram Paul welcomed the new entrants and asked them to work hard for strengthen the party at grass root level.
Others who spoke on the occasion include Om Dalbotra, Master Prem Nath Bhagat, Sham Lal, Rajinder Chaniyal, Bharat Bhushan, S.Darshan Singh, Ayub Malik, Sagar Chand Ex MLA, Ramesh Motton, Qazi Jalal-u-din, Charan Dass Dogra, Dr. Y.P Singh, Narinder Dutt, Mukhtyar Chand, Shakeel Toni, Ramesh Chander, Ravi Kumar, Harbans Lal Chandail, Bhadur Lal, Dr. Tara Chand, Mrs Soma Devi, Sain Dass, Dr. Sushil, Bhushan Lal and Karam Chand (Retd ZEO), Sat Paul Mandi, Thoru Ram and others.
