Amyra Dastur to make TV debut

Amyra Dastur, who has featured in films like Issaq and Kung Fu Yoga, is making her way to the small screen with the second season of the TV series, The Trip. The first part featured Lisa Haydon, Sapna Pabbi, Shweta Tripathi and Mallika Dua. Amyra is quick to point out that she is not replacing Lisa. “Her character, Shonali is still in the story. I play Mallika’s (Dua) cousin. Hopefully in season three, all of us will be together,” she smiles.
Sapna and she started out with the same modelling agency and she befriended Mallika and Shweta during the reading sessions.
“We shared a vanity van and would hang out together during the shoot in Pondicherry and Yercaud. Our show is about travelling, girl-bonding and helping each other grow,” says Amyra who will be seen in two avatars, one western and the other over-the-top desi with her sporting a large nose ring in the first few episodes.
“The girls get lost in South India and the desi look complements the situation.”
On the film front, the actress will be seen as a bubbly NRI opposite Ali Fazal in Sanjay Dutt’s home production Prassthanam.
Then, there’s Rajma Chawal with Rishi Kapoor and Mental Hai Kya featuring Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao.
“ Rajma Chawal shows me as more than just a pretty girl. I had to shave one side of my head for the role as it’s a badass character,” she says, adding she’s a huge Kangana fan.
