#Militants hurl grenades on Army bunker


Srinagar, Sep 11: Two unidentified militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Handwara area of Kupwara district on Tuesday, police said.
Two militants have been killed in the encounter at Galoora area of Handwara, in the north Kashmir district, a police official said.
He said the identity and group affiliation of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area early Tuesday morning following specific information about the presence of militants there, the official said.
He said the search operation turned into an encounter after militants fired upon the forces.
The operation is on, the official said.
Militants on Tuesday attacked security forces with grenades at two separate places in Baramulla district, police said.
In the first attack, the militants fired two UBGL grenades on an Army bunker near Degree College in Sopore in north Kashmir district, a police official said.
He said the grenades exploded without causing any damage. In another incident this evening, the militants lobbed a grenade on police station Pattan, the official said.
He said the grenade exploded outside the police station without causing any damage.
No loss of life or injury was reported in these incidents, the official said.
