DB directs Sr. AAG to apprise Court about action taken by State Govt.

JAMMU, Sept12: Divi sion Bench of the State High Court comprising First Puisne Judge Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Sanjay Kumar Gupta in a significant order directed Senior AAG H.A. Siddiqui appearing for the Health and Medical Education Department J&K Government to apprise the Court with regard to the filling of the post of Director Health Services, Jammu and action taken by the State Government in this regard. These directions were passed in the open court in a PIL filed by a renowned RTI Activist Balwinder Singh highlighting shortage of Doctors and Paramedical Staff in various Health Instit utions of Jammu Province. When this PIL came up for hearing, Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed appearing for the petitioner submitted that Health Department in Jammu Province is headless for the last two weeks and no effort is being made by the State Government to post a suitable incumbent against the post of Director Health Ser vices, Jammu. Advocate S.S. Ahmed further submitted that the Health Services are essential services and a very wrong signal is going in the Society and Health Department due to non-filling of the post of Director Health Ser vices, Jammu. Advocate Ahmed further submitted that the issue of non-filling of the post of Director Health Services Jammu has also been highlighted both in electronic as well as print media but the State Government has remained unmoved as till date the prime slot of Director Health Services, Jammu is lying vacant. After considering the submissions of both the sides the Division Bench headed by First Puisne Judge Justice Alok Aradhe directed Senior AAG H.A. Siddiqui to apprise the Court with regard to the filling of the post of Director Health Services, Jammu and action taken by the State Government in this regard and further granted him two weeks time to file response to the PIL.
