DGP visits Rajouri and Poonch

SRINAGAR, Oct 17: Director General of Police J&K Shri Dilbag Singh, IPS during his visit to Poonch and Rajouri held darbars with jawans and officers besides chaired review meetings with officers.
Deepak Kumar Salathia, IPS DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range and Rajiv Pandey, IPS SSP Poonch and Mohd. Farid, Commandant JKAP 6th Bn. received the DGP at Poonch. During his visit DGP inaugurated the Barracks Block for Jawans and Gazetter Officers Mess at DPL Poonch and Stadium-cum-Multipurpose facility at DPL Rajouri. DGP was presented guard of honour on his arrival at both the places.
While interacting with officers and jawans the DGP complimented J&K Police, CRPF for successful operation in a congested area of Srinagar adding that people of Srinagar will heave a sigh of relief and added that J&K Police is ready for Panchayat elections and all arrangements will be made. The DGP complimented all forces for successful conduct of Urban Local Body elections.
DGP said that Rajouri and Poonch is land of courageous and brave people and has produced valiant and courageous jawans. He said that due to active support of general public of Poonch and Rajouri both these twin border districts are free from militancy.
Referring to today's Srinagar encounter, DGP paid homage to brave police jawan Shri Kamal Kishore who attained martyrdom while fighting terrorists at Fateh Kadal. DGP said that J&K Police has given lot of sacrifices for maintaining peace and integrity in the State. He thanked Central and State Government for announcing various welfare measures for the welfare of police personnel and their families. "Ex-gratia to families of NOKs of martyrs and remuneration of SPOs has been increased and we will continue to strive for more", the DGP said. He added that he is hopeful that hardship allowance will be increased in favour of J&K Police soon.
DGP directed the officers to act tough against criminals, bad elements as well as drug peddlers by identifying and booking them under relevant laws.
Dilbag Singh said that Pakistan has started a proxy war and J&K Police and other forces are giving supreme sacrifices for peace. Despite being targeted by terrorists the response of J&K Police has been exemplary, he added.
Welcoming the recent decision of State Government regarding rank promotion, DGP said that it will open promotional avenues at cutting edge level in the Non-Gazetted cadre of J&K Police and more than 2000 promotions have been effected.
He said that subordinate offices have been instructed to complete DPCs proceedings in a time bound manner.
DGP directed the personnel to be good and friendly to general public which will help in good policing. Giving thrust on grievance redressal, DGP said that the disposal has to be very fast and efficient so that we could provide succor to those in need and thus enhance the image of the police in the eyes of the people.
DGP impressed upon the personnel to be prepared for upcoming Panchayat elections. He advised the police personnel to take care of health, hygiene and their families. He said that all needs of the lower subordinates / constabulary will be solved in quickest possible time. He also said that all the personnel especially lower ranks will be made comfortable.
Earlier, Rajiv Pandey, IPS SSP Poonch and Yougal Manhas, SSP Rajouri gave brief resume of the functioning of their respective districts in these darbars. These interactions were attended by officers of Armed Police, Prosecution wing, Fire & Emergency Services and jurisdictional police officers.
