BJP demands 73rd, 74th amendment in J&K

JAMMU, Oct 17: Public across the length and breadth of the state of Jammu & Kashmir chose and preferred grass root level democracy while widely rejected the poll boycott and threat calls given by anti-nationals during the Urban Local Bodies (ULB), this was stated by BJP State President Ravinder Raina (MLA), while he addressing the media at party headquarter, Jammu.
Former Dy. CM Kavinder Gupta, former Minister Sham Choudhary, State General Secretary Yudhvir Sethi and District General Secretary Vinay Gupta also accompanied the State President in the Press Conference.
Ravinder Raina, while addressing the media persons, stated that despite the poll boycott calls by Kashmir based political parties, frequent threats by the terrorists and the "Band" calls given by separatists, there was massive turnout in the ULB elections, thus giving a befitting reply to all those who wanted to hamper process of democracy. He said that the public preferred development, peace and prosperity.
Raina thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, honourable Governor of J&K, Chief Electoral Officer, Election Commission of India, Security agencies in J&K, J&K Police, CRPF, CISF, SSB, Indian Army, BSF all other agencies for smooth conduct of elections.
He appreciated the role of administration, who worked with full transparency. We thank all these for their great effort for the successful completion of the chore, Raina acknowledged.
While stressing that the ULB elections after a gap of 13 years served as great satisfaction and pleasure for the public of J&K, Raina said that this will work as foundation to meet the aspirations of common masses.
BJP volunteers gave their best while participating in the election process in all the three regions of the state despite facing various hardships, he said.
Raina also declared that BJP is fully prepared for the Panchayat elections. He said that although the Panchayat elections will be fought on non-party basis but the party will fully contribute in the process. BJP supported candidates will secure good results in Panchayat elections as well along with ULB elections and will contribute constructively in development process in every part of the state, Raina stressed, appealing Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh to vote and participate whole heartedly in Panchayat elections.
Raina said that BJP also requests Governor of J&K to strengthen the Panchayati Raj by paving the way for amendments in Panchayati Raj act. He said that 73/74 must be implemented in J&K to enable grass root level development in the state. The last man standing in the final row must get all the benefits, he stressed.
