JAMMU, Oct 21: BJP is befooling the Kisans and playing with the future of the families of Kisans by ignoring the genuine and just problems and demands of Kisans, alle-ged Mr. Ajay Sadhotra, senior leader National Conference and former Minister, while addressing a Kisan Protest Rally at Phallain Mandal which passed through main bazar and was organized by National Conference Block Mandal Phallain, against non-payment of compensation to the Kisans of their damaged standing paddy crops and vegetable crops due to hailstorm on 11.10.2018 in Border villages of Mandal Tehsil.
Mr. Sadhotra said it is very unfortunate and surprising that till date no compensation to the Kisans have been given for the damaged standing crops. It shows the insensitiveness of BJP government towards Kisans. Even proper assessment has not been made and the expert committee has not been constituted as yet.
National Conference leader said the Revenue department of Mandal Tehsil is making mockery of the government. Kisans are being forced to pay to get their losses assessed. The protest march passed through the main bazaar of Phallain Mandal.
Mr Sadhtora demanded immediate intervention of Governor Mr. Satya Pal Malik for grant of compensation of damaged crops at the rate of Rupees ten thousand per kanal to the Kisan Credit Card holders and non-Kisan Credit Card holders as 40% Kisan Credit Cards have not been made of Kisans.
Former Minister said Compensation be given to the owners of the land as well as labourers also who have no other source of income. Kisans are ready to forego compensation if government gets their fields cleared and prepared for the next crop.
The BJP government is pushing the Kisan towards wall. The future of the families of Kisan is being made dark as kisan has become hand to mouth, farming is becoming costlier day by day and return is very meager, said Mr Sadhotra.
National Conference leader said BJP is creating Maharashtra like situation where Kisans are forced by BJP government policies to commit suicide. He assured the Kisans that National Conference has always fought for the rights of Kisans and assured that in future also National Conference will fight for Kisan problems.
