TLS JU organizes expert lecture on Environmental Hazards

JAMMU, OCT 22: The Law School, University of Jammu organized a Lecture -cum -interactive session on the topic "Hazards of Environmental Pollution in the City of Jammu. The Resource Person for the event was Dr Yash Paul, Senior Scientist and Head, Laboratory, J&K State Pollution Control Board. Giving a scientist's perspective, he focused on the environmental status of City of Jammu and dwelt upon various important aspects, viz., Sewage waste pollution, Municipal solid waste, River Tawi Pollution and Ambient air quality standards in Jammu. The lecture was followed by question-hour session, in which he clarified the inquisitiveness of law school students regarding current status of pollution and environmental degradation in Jammu city and initiatives undertaken by the State Pollution Control Board as well as other regulatory agencies.
The event was organized by the Rangers and Rovers Unit of the Law School. Dr. Monica Narang, Senior Assistant Professor, and Incharge of unit threw light on the purpose of the said event.
She briefed the students and faculty members about the Rangers and Rovers unit of the law school and activities undertaken by them. She said 'lecture cum interaction' was in continuance to the 'sensitization and awareness drive conducted by their team in collaboration with NGO, Viraasat on 17th October, at River Tawi. The event was coordinated with the support of her team comprising of Ishna Vaid, Mansi Walia, Shray Bakshi and Akhilesh Jandial.
