Chief Justice administers oath to Justice Rajesh Bindal as Judge of J&K High Court

JAMMU, Nov 19: Justice Rajesh Bindal took oath of office to the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, here Monday.
The swearing-in ceremony was administered by Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Justice Gita Mittal. The chief justice congratulated the new Judge and wished him a successful tenure.
Bindal was administered the oath after the high court's Registrar General Sanjay Dhar read out the Warrant of Appointment issued by the President of India. He also read out the Letter of Authorisation issued by the governor of Jammu and Kashmir.
The ceremony was attended by justices D S Thakur, TashiRabstan, Sanjay Kumar Gupta, Sindhu Sharma and Chief Secretary B V R Subrahmanyam, Advocate General D C Raina, Principal Secretary (home) R K Goyal, Law Secretary Abdul Majid Bhatt, Divisional Commissioner SanjeevVerma, IGP S D Singh, Principal District and Sessions Judge, besides a number of former judges, senior advocates and officers of the registry.
Justice Bindal, a senior Judge, had been appointed as the Judge of Jammu and Kashmir High Court following his transfer from the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The oath ceremony was attended by Justice DS Thakur, Justice Tashi Rabstan, Justice Sanjay Kumar Gupta and Justice Sindhu Sharma, Chief Secretary, BVR Subrahmanyam, Advocate General DC Raina, Principal Secretary Home, RKGoyal, Law Secretary, Abdul Majid Bhatt, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma, IGP, Jammu, Dr SD Singh, Principal District and Sessions Judge Jammu, Vinod Chatterjee Koul, besides former Judges, President Bar Association Jammu, BS Slathia, Officers of the registry, senior advocates and office-bearers of High Court Bar Association.
Earlier, the Warrants of Appointment order issued by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind were read out by the Registrar General of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir Mr. Sanjay Dhar.
Registrar General Sanjay Dhar also read the Letter of Authorization issued by Governor of Jammu & Kashmir Satya Pal Malik, authorizing Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir, to administer the oath of office to Justice Rajesh Bindal. With the appointment of these two judges, the strength of High Court goes nine.
Justice Bindal Born on 16th April, 1961, at Ambala City. Passed matriculation examination from S.A. Jain High School, Ambala City; thereafter studied in S.A. Jain College, Ambala City. Got B. Com. Degree from Punjab University, Chandigarh. Did LL. B. from Kurukshetra University in 1985 and joined profession in High Court in September, 1985.Represented Chandigarh Administration before Central Administrative Tribunal for more than a decade till 2004.Represented Punjab & Haryana regions of Employees Provident Fund Organization in High Court and Central Administrative Tribunal from 1992. Remained associated, on behalf of State of Haryana, in the dispute concerning Satluj Yamuna Water with State of Punjab before Eradi Tribunal and Apex Court. Represented Income Tax Department Haryana region before the High Court. He was elevated as a Judge of the Punjab & Haryana High Court, on March 22, 2006.
Justice Bindal has disposed of 78000 cases till March 31, 2018.
