Advocacy Workshop on Water & Sanitation & Hygiene held

JAMMU, Nov 20: An advocacy workshop was organized by CCDU, WSSO, Department of PHE, I&FC Jammu through Swarangan Meditation Charitable Trust (NGO) to sensitize the allied departments regarding Water, Sanitation & Hygiene under the guidelines of National Rural Drinking Water & Sanitation Programme (NRDWP) at the Institution of Engineers (India), Channi Himmat, Jammu. The aim of conducting this workshop was to create awareness among masses and sensitization of the allied departments for the conservation of water and preservation of water bodies. On this occasion, Jenab Farooq Ahmad Shah, IAS, Secretary to Govt. PHE, I&FC Deptt. was the Chief Guest. During his address he stressed that such workshops be organized in Urban and Rural areas for awareness among the masses.
He further highlighted the need for conservation of water as well as the economic usage of drinking water and stressed that gross root level awareness is required and we must make a every drop count. If actions for its conservations are not taken today, it will spill disaster for all living beings in the near future. He further stressed that the gross root level workers of PHE Department should identify and plug the Leakages instantly and appealed to General Public to install float valves in their Storage tanks to avoid wastage of water & pay Water Charges bills on time.
In his address Er. Ashok Kumar Gandotra, Executive Director, CCDU advocated to use water judiciously and avoid its wastage so that water resources are conserved and ensuring its availability for future generation.
