Former Congress MLA Swaran Lata joins NC

JAMMU Dec 10: Former MLA and senior Congress leader Mrs Swaran Lata on Monday joined the National Conference in presence of Vice President and former Chief Minister Mr Omar Abdullah. Elected Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) on Congress ticket in the 1987 assembly elections from the reserved Bari Braha-mana constituency in Jammu district, Mrs Swaran Lata also remained Vice-Chairp-erson of Social Welfare Board during the tenure of Mr Omar Abdullah as Chief Mini-ster between 2009 and 2014.
Welcoming Mrs Lata into National Conference fold at a function held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here, Mr Omar Abdullah hoped that she will serve the people and strengthen the party further. He greeted Mrs Lata on her joining the party on behalf of National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah.
General Secretary Mr Ali Mohammed Sagar, Additional General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustaffa Kamal and Provincial President Mr Devender Singh Rana besides former ministers, former legislators, senior leaders and heads of various wings of National Conference were present on the occasion. They profusely greeted Mrs Swaran Lata on her entry into National Conference.
