Police officials trained on JJ Act in Poonch

POONCH, DEC 14: Police Officials from District Poonch including members of Special Juvenile Police Units, Juvenile Welfare Officers, SHOs, I/C PPS, I/C BPP and Investigating Officers were trained on J&K Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act 2013 and Rules 2014. The training was organized by National Development Foundation in collaboration with Directorate of ICPS J&K Govt. and District Police Poonch with the funding support of the European Union. Mr. Adil Hamid Addl. SP Poonch inaugurated the workshop and emphasised on role of police officers in implementation for JJ Act. The workshop was organized to train the police officials on J&K JJ Act 2013 & Rules 2018 so that the cases of children in need of care and protection & children in conflict with law be dealt under the provisions of JJ Act. Advocate Anant Kumar Asthana practicing Law in Delhi High Court and Supreme Court of India was the main resource person who facilitated technical sessions on CCCL & CNCP, its related structures, procedures, required documentation and role of police. Mr. Anwar Hussain Shah Chairperson Child Welfare Committee Poonch shared his experience in handling cases of CNCP emphasising support received by police which enabled them to rescue children engaged in work. Ms. Neha Gandotra Chief Operating Officer National Development Foundation briefed on implementation status of JJ Act in the State, various child protection structures formed under the JJ Act & ICPS in the State and emphasised on child friendly policing and child friendly police stations.
Group exercise was conducted by the participants on Child Friendly environment in police stations and child friendly attitude of police personal in dealing with children. Various formats to be used by Police while dealing with cases of children were also discussed in details. The training programme will strengthen the justice delivery system for the children of district Poonch.
