Jammu, Jan 20: The Kissans of Jammu and Kashmir are most badly hit due to wrong and anti Kissan policies of the BJP government in the State and at the Centre, said Mr. Ajay Sadhotra, former Minister and Senior leader National Conference, while addressing a public meeting at Kalase Chak in Marh Block today.
Former Minister said that rates of seeds are touching the sky and fertilizer has also gone high and moreover spurious inputs are being given to kissans. Kissans are being harassed and taxed in the name of Kissan Credit Cards and Crop Insurance. Kissans are being charged for crop Insurance out of Kissan Credit Card without telling the Kissans that which company has Insured their crops and without giving any document of Insurance in case of damage to the insured crops.
Mr. Sadhotra further said that Kissan have to go to pillar to post but insurance claim is never given. He cited the example of paddy crops loss in Mandal Tehsil recently but till date no compensation has been given. Government and Insurance agencies are telling Kissans that there is no loss to paddy crop as there is no loss in other parts of the district. Compensation to the insured crop will be given if damage to the crops is in whole of the district as per Insurance agencies. The BJP government is befooling the kissans and making mockery of their miseries.
He said Kissans are the backbone of the society. They need to be given sense of belonging instead of pushing them towards wall.
Moreover, Kissans are being betrayed in the name of Ring Road or development in Jammu especially in Marh Assembly Constituency as the stamp rate / circle rate fixed by the government is much much less and the Kissans are getting frustrated and government is pushing Kissans towards wall, said Mr. Sadhotra.
National Conference leader further said that due to wrong policies of the BJP government youth is totally annoyed and taking the condition of common kissan, youth is least interested in Agriculture / Farming. Moreover, false promises of Modi government to provide 2 Crore employment to youth has proved hoax.
Mr. Sadhotra asked the government to be kissan friendly and the problems of common Kissan be redressed at earliest before they take agitational approach, don't push them towards wall. The stamp rates of agricultural land in Marh Assembly Constituency be fixed as per Central Land Acquisition Act to ensure that Kissan does not starve and given their due rates.
