Dudu-Basantgarh people left by Govt at mercy of God: Harsh

15/02/2019

JAMMU, FEB 14: Pointing towards the huge losses to houses, crops, and public infrastructure during the past few months in Dudu-Basantgarh Tehsils of District Udhampur due to adverse weather conditions, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and Former Minister regretted the criminal apathy shown by the govt in mitigating the hardships of the affected people. He said that with Ramnagar-Basantgarh road and Tringli-Dudu road remaining blocked for the last around one month, the people were suffering immensely with none to take note of their deplorable plight.
He regretted that no action was being taken to clear the heavy snowfall on the roads and path ways in the said Tehsils which had thrown normal life out of gear.
The power infrastructure had totally collapsed in several villages including Basantgarh, Mang, Sang, Loudra, Punara, Raichak, Kadwa with electric poles having got damaged due to heavy snowfall with authorities concerned failing to restore the same despite lapse of around a month, he lamented.
He said that the farmers and orchardists were in distress as none had come to their rescue or even to assess the losses caused to their houses and crops. Similar was the case with the water supply schemes which too had got damaged with none to address the issue, he rued. The administration, he deplored, had left the masses at the mercy of god with the poor people forced to face the vagaries of highly adverse weather conditions without any govt support. Several officials and employees had filed from the area leaving the hard pressed people in lurch who were clamouring for provision of basic amenities and shortage of food and other stocks.
