Training, demonstration of EVMs, VVPATs from Feb 21

KARGIL, Feb 18: In order to conduct training and demonstration of EVMs and VVPATs in the district in view of the upcoming General and Assembly elections, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer (DEO) Kargil Vikas Kundal convened a meeting of the concerned officers here today.
The training is being imparted to different categories of employees, political workers, media persons, NGOs and members of the civil society organizations.
Superintendent of Police Dr Vinod Kumar, Deputy District Election Officer Nargis Banoo, Nodal Officer Trainings, Tehsildars, Election Naib Tehsildar, representatives of political parties, ALMTs and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
During the course of the meeting, issues with regard to the framing of training and demonstration calendar, security, movement and storage of EVMs and VVPATs at different locations during training besides other related issues were discussed threadbare.
The meeting also decided that required number of EVM and VVPAT machine sets shall be handed over to the ALMTs/Nodal Officers on 20th February 2019 to impart training to the concerned employees and other members as per the training schedule.
The meeting further decided that the 1st phase of training in case of different Sub Divisions of Kargil would be held from 21st to 23rd February, 2019 while as in case of Zanskar Sub Division it would be held from 25th to 27th February 2019.
7 groups of ALMTs/Nodal Officers were constituted to impart training and demonstration during the 1st phase of training at different locations in the district including Auditorium Hall Kargil, Dak Bungalows, Higher Secondaries and other locations etc which would involve the participation of Ashas, Anganwadi Workers, members of NGOs, BLOs, BLAs, BAGs and CSOs.
The DC stressed upon the concerned officers to ensure proper safety, security and storage of the EVM and VVPAT machines during the training period strictly in accordance with the set guidelines.
He also instructed the officers to ensure suitable participation of the employees as well as other concerned members in the training and demonstration sessions so that they are fully acquainted with the operationalization of EVM and VVPAT machines.
