JAMMU, Apr 13: Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad Saturday accused Prime Minister NarendraModi of creating "war hysteria" and "fear psychosis" among the people for electoral gains in the LokSabha polls.
He also lashed out at the BJP for "creating an atmosphere of mistrust and hate" in the country.
"The prime minister does not mention anything about the promises made by him especially to our youth, farmers and the poor in the last election and instead he has created war hysteria and fear psychosis among the countrymen for votes," the leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha said.
Azad was addressing election rallies at Goha, Kulhand, Bhagwah in Doda district and Neel, Ukrahal in Ramban district in support of party candidate from Udhampur LokSabha seat Vikramaditya Singh.
He said Modi's promises to the people in the last election like 10 crore jobs, 50 per cent increase in the minimum support price (MSP) to the farmers, bringing back black money and depositing Rs 15 lakh in the account of every common man have proved "hollow".
"All those promises and commitments which were made by the prime minister and the BJP during the last election have proved to be 'jumlas' only and after five years of Modi government the BJP does not talk of their report card on all those promises but creating fear psychosis, mistrust and war hysteria," the former state chief minister said. He said the farmers continued to commit suicides but the Modi government remained indifferent and insensitive to their issues.
"The atrocities on women and weaker sections continued unabated and the poor are facing unprecedented price hike but for the Modi government these are no more issues. The BJP wants to divert people's attention to escape questions over its failure to provide good governance to the people," he said.
Azad accused the BJP of pursuing "divisive and diversionary tactics and creating an atmosphere of mistrust and hate for political gains" while ignoring the larger interests of maintaining social and religious harmony which are paramount for the unity and integrity of the nation.
Addressing largely attended public meetings at Goha, Kulhand, Bhagwah in Doda district and Neel, Ukrahal in Ramban district today Azad said that all those promises and commitments which were made by the Prime Minister NarinderModi and BJP during last elections have proved to be hollow and 'jumlas' only and after five years Modi government and BJP do not talk of their report card on all those promises but creating fear psychosis, mistrust and war hysteria. He questioned where are the 10 crorejobs as after coming to power BJP advised unemployed youth to sell 'pakoras', instead of bringing back money and depositing 15 lakh to every account holder, the peoples money in the banks were taken away by the rich people close to the corridors of power and they ran away under the nose of Modi government.
The farmers continued committing suicide but the Modi government remained indifferent and insensitive to their genuine issues. The atrocities on women and weaker sections continued unabated and the poor are facing unprecedented price hike but for BJP and Modi government these are no more issues of governance and election issues because they engage and divert people's attention over issues of religion, caste and especially war hysteria to escape from the questions of cross sections on the delivery of his government in last five years, over those commitments.
Azad lashed out at the BJP for the divisive and diversionary tactics especially creating atmosphere of mistrust and hate for political gain ignoring the larger interests of maintaining social and religious harmony among the diversity in the country, which is paramount for the unity and integrity of the nation.
He referred to the numerous achievements of UPA government and lot of infrastructure development and tremendous development in Jammu and Kashmir in all parts of the state aimed providing all sorts of facilities to the people and creating larger opportunity for the youth of the state. He said Congress gave priority treatment to the state in every sphere and massive development was under taken in the state besides setting up class institutions of learning and education and health.
