Sabbatical is natural in any actress’s life: Isha Koppikar

16/04/2019

Known as the ‘Khallas Girl’ in showbiz, Isha Koppikar has come a long way as far as her association with Ekta Kapoor is concerned. And the actress is happy to be associated with Alt Balaji’s show Fixer. “In the last five years, my audience kept asking me when am I going to come back, but in life, there are a lot of other commitments. You have to get married on time, have kids on time; so a sabbatical is natural in an actress’s life,” says Isha, who is happy with the kind of character she was offered in the show.
Talking about her role in the series, she reveals that her character will resemble her last role in Kya Kool Hain Hum, but this time, her character will have a rowdy streak and the plot of the show will revolve around a murder.
“It is a crime thriller and I am playing a character that’s a bit of a tapori, which is a little different from Kya Kool Hain Hum,” says the actress.
In Flixer, Isha will be essaying the role of a Marathi woman, sub-inspector Jayanti Javdekar. Her presence in the show will also add comic relief to the plot.
Mother of a five-year-old girl, Isha confesses that she did miss acting. “I do miss films and acting but that’s not my whole life.
There are a lot of other things that matter to me and I can’t just do films all my life,” says the 42-year-old actress, and adds that she is fond of food and is active in politics as well. “I love food.
That’s why I ventured into hospitality. I am into politics as well. Acting is my first love but many other things are equally important,” she said.
Many actors are joining politics, and Isha Koppikar is no exception. The actress joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as a working president of the Women Transport Wing in January 2019.
Isha feels that it’s her responsibility as a citizen to give back to the country. She says, “I entered politics because it is also my responsibility as a citizen to do something for the country.
Movies are good; everybody works and we entertain people, but what after that? I am not saying everybody should join politics, but for me, it is time to give back to the country.”
It’s true that not every actor earns a tag in this industry and so, Isha is proud to have the ‘Khallas Girl’ tag with her. “Very few actresses have got a tag. Hemaji is called ‘the dream girl’, Madhuri, ‘Ek do teen’; anything that becomes cult or is a trendsetter earns a tag.
At least the audience still remembers you. You should be worried when the audience forgets you,” said the Girlfriend actress.
