JU organises Clean Tawi Green Tawi campaign

Jammu, Apr 15: Department of Sociology University of Jammu organised the "Clean Tawi Green Tawi campaign in collaboration with the State Pollution Control Board Jammu and Jammu Minicipal Corporation at Hari Ki Pouri Temple Jammu on 13th and 14th April, 2019. During the campaign students & Scholars of the Department of Sociology collected all the religious items, both Bio-Degradable and Non Biodegradable, from the devotees at "Har Ki Poudi" temple and segregated it into dry waste and wet waste.
They assured the devotees that all the material collected will be either recycled or processed in environment friendly manner with the help of Pollution control department and Jammu Municipal Corporation. Volunteers worked with the message of Refusing, Reducing, and Reusing the polythene to make the environment clean and green. During the campaign students converted the collected flowers and leaves into compost using Bin composting technique under the guidance of experts from SPCB.
Devotees appreciated the students for participating in such initiatives and blessed them by applauding their concerns. Prof. Vishav Raksha, Head Department of Sociology University of Jammu, Dr. Hema Gandotra, Sr. Assistant Professor along with the Chairman of SPCB Ravi Kesar IFS appreciated the efforts of the students and scholars of the Department of Sociology and encouraged them to take part in such initiatives in future also.
Those who were present in the campaign were the volunteers of Disha organization, B M Sharma IFS, Secretary JKSPCB and other Staff members of JKSPCB.
