HIRANAGAR, Apr 15: Former minister and senior Congress leader, R S Chib while addressing election rally in favour of Congress candidate from Kathua-Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat, Vikramaditya Singh at Haria Chak in Hiranagar today, said BJP has betrayed the people of Jammu in every sphere, whether it was sanctioning of new projects, providing jobs to Jammu youth or sanctioning of funds to this region. The people will not spare this party during these elections, he added.
He pointed out that BJP Government provided just Rs 5.5 lakhs to the displaced persons from PoK of 1947, 1965 and 1971 instead of Rs 25 lakhs per family as recommended by the previous Congress Government headed by then Chief Minister Gh. Nabi Azad. These DPs are now feeling cheated by the BJP regime, he maintained.
Chib pointed out that during last five years, incidents of infiltration and ceasefire violations along borders in J&K both on IB and LOC has stepped up and moreover, the number of casualties of security forces have also gone higher during BJP regime here. The border people were not provided 5 marla plots at safer places as promised. Moreover, this Govt. has failed to honour any of its promise made during 2014 elections with the people including payment of Rs. 15 Lacs to each family.
The Congress leader further said that the promise of providing 2 crore jobs to the educated youth every year has also proved hollow besides bringing back black money from the banks outside the country.
He appealed the people to vote and support Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh for better development and victory of secular forces. He reminded the people of this constituency about the services rendered by his great father Dr. Karan Singh who has represented this constituency four times as Member of Parliament (Loksabha).
