UBIIC organizes interaction of JUVC with Young Faculty Members

Jammu, Apr 16: Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, today held interaction with the Assistant Professors of the University to share the vision and inspire them to participate in the march towards research excellence of the University. His motive was to get the first-hand experience and the inputs from young faculty members and also listen to their issues viz a viz research, innovation and academics is concerned.
Prof Dhar exuded that Jammu University besides academic and research, must be known for innovation, entrepreneurship and skill development programmes. He shared with the Assistant Professors that appropriate steps are being taken to create right platforms to achieve desired objectives e.g. establishing Startups under Business Incubation & Innovation Centre, Skill development Courses and Industry- Academia interface.
Prof Dhar exhorts that University is envisaging to revamp its research atmosphere on the Campus implying thereby that every Assistant Professor should actively explore opportunities of submitting research projects to various funding agencies.
Prof Dhar shared that University is committed to create conducive atmosphere and also provide access to the funds that can enable the faculty members to take research initiatives. He urged upon the Dean Research Studies to conduct various need based capacity building workshops for the young faculty members.
Prof Dhar said that if any faculty member or Student has any idea and wants to get it incubated, the right ecosystem has been put in place in University which will assist /support and mentor the incubates. University of Jammu is likely to sign MOU with USA Universities identified by MHRD who would do hand holding of various programmes as well as launch skill development and entrepreneurship programmes. He shared that representatives from foreign Universities will visit to University to train the young faculties of the University as well as various other stake holders. Prof Dhar informed that University has already initiated the process to upgrade the Course curriculum of all Courses as per the recent norms and shall be outcome based.Earlier, Prof Rajni Dhingra, Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu in her address appreciated the novel exercise which has been initialed and said that such initiatives will add new feather to the University. Prof Dhingra outlined the various research initiatives especially taken in the last six months that included introduction of 'Research Calendrers and creation of 'Publication Fund' and outlined the objectives of holding such interactions and resonated the vision of theVice-Chancellor.Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Registrar, and Director, Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance Cell(DIQA) University of Jammu in her address gave a overview of the expectation of various accreditation agencies that can help to enhance the equity of theUniversity.
