Knight Club, Star Volley win opening ties

POONCH, APRIL 19: Knight Club and Star Volley Club won opening matches of the Mohd Khalaq (PEL) Memorial Open Volleyball Tournament, organised by Salwah (Mendhar) Knight Club in association with Shaheed Manjit Singh Memorial Volleyball Club under the aegis of Volleyball Association of J&K at Salwah, here today.
In the opening match, Knight Club defeated Baba Club in straight sets of 25-16, 25-22 while Star Volleyball trounced Star Club 2-0 (25-17, 25-23).
Earlier, the competition declared open by president Volleyball Association of Poonch, Razaq Khan (retired SSP), who was chief gust. Principal, Mohd Sadeeq Chouhan was guest of honour. Among others present were Shakeel Ahmed (AE), Prof Alyas, Gulam Mujtaba (Lecturer), Javid Iqbal (Lecturer) and Shaid Chib.
