Election campaign for JKHCBA elections in full swing; visits Samba, Kathua

Sawhney donates water dispenser to Samba Bar Association

Samba/Kathua, Apr 19: The election campaigns of all the candidates to the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu are in full swing and in this regard the candidate for the post of President- Mr A K Sawhney Advocate visited Samba and Kathua Courts where he met many of the Advocates- Bar Members.
At Samba, Mr A K Sawhney congratulated the Advocates and members of the Bar and gifted the Bar Association Samba with a water dispenser which was unveiled and installed by the President of the Samba Bar Association Mr Subash Sambyal alongwith his team members.
Mr Sambyal thanked Mr Sawhney for his kind gesture for the Advocates of Samba Bar and also addressed the Bar Members in the new Bar rooms of the new District Courts complex. It may be mentioned that the new Samba Courts complex has been inaugurated on 17.4.2019 the Courts have shifted to the new complex just two days back. The Vice President of the Samba Bar also spoke on the occasion and thanked Mr A K Sawhney for this gesture and conveyed their best wishes for the elections.
Mr A K Sawhney Advocate spoke at length and said that he has emotional attachment with Samba, as he has worked as a Munsiff for a short duration of an year at Samba. He said that this water dispensary was just a token of his respect for the Samba Bar, which he shall never be able to forget. He also congratulated the Advocates of Samba on their shifting to the new Courts premises and making the Courts functional there.
He told the gathering of Bar members as to why he felt compelled to contest the elections for the post of President of J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu. He responded that his only agenda for contesting the elections for the post of President of esteemed association is that he wants the J&K Bar Council's first elections to be held and the powers be transferred from the High Court to the elected Bar Council of the State.
Mr A K Sawhney Advocate former Bar President of HCBA Jammu also narrated his journey of professional life as how despite being refugees he by his dint of hardwork had risen from a transporter's family to a leading lawyer. He narrated to the audience that in his college days he worked as a truck conductor and side by side continued with his studies and from there he became a Munsiff.
He further shared with the audience that after an year he resigned from the post of Munsiff and accepted the challenge of law practise and how he faced ups and downs in life. He said the only mission of his life which is unfinished is to see an elected Bar Council in J&K and for which he is contesting the elections to pursue his struggle for an elected Bar Council of J&K.
He explained how the Bar Council would function and also have its members in the Bar Council of India. He said that where there are elections for the Parliament, Assembly and even local bodies there from 1961 the elections to the Bar Council have not been held despite Supreme Court's orders.
He also mentioned that how the Jammu Bar has unitedly fought against the injustice to the lawyers and people of the region and state in general and reminded them of several agitations.
He assured that in case he is voted as President of the Bar Association Jammu for which the elections are due from quite a time now, he shall restore the glory of the Bar and leave no stone unturned for the dignity of the lawyers. He also put light on the problems of the young lawyers like corruption in lower rung, work problems, stress, arrogance of the presiding officers and lack of library, computers and basic amenities and dignified sitting arrangements etc
Mr A K Sawhney said that if Bar members elect me as their President he will maintain its independence, integrity and will not be subordinate to Bench or any other authority or institution. He further said that Bar accounts and Funds would be properly audited by prominent C.A. and copy of the same shall be made available on Bar Website.
Bar website to be built and developed as dynamic cyber property and bar rooms in Distt Courts and High Court complex including Bar rooms, ladies bar rooms to be made Wi-Fi free zones for members.
Later Mr A K Sawhney and his team visited Kathua Courts where also they interacted with lawyers of Kathua and informed them of their agenda.
Others who accompanied Mr A K Sawhney were Mr Aseem Sawhney, Mr Arun Tandon, Mr Naresh Salgotra, Mr Neeraj Singh, Mr Shiv Dev Thakur, Ms Illa Sharma, Mr Anil Sharma, Mr Vinay Raina, Mr Pawan Ghambir besides others.
