Madhuri Dixit talks dance

Madhuri Dixit, known to be one of the most humble actors in Bollywood, opened up about her career trajectory.
Speaking about her ‘dance queen’ title, Madhuri smiles and says that it was an uphill battle. “I have learned dancing from an early age. But yet, when I had to dance to filmy Bollywood numbers, I was not able to give my best in front of the camera,” she recalls.
Elucidating further, she says: “I remember, when I was performing Ek Do Teen, Saroj ji would explain to me how I need to perform in front of the cameras. I had a free space when I used to perform on stage, so I did not understand the limitations of performing in front of cameras we need to know where and how much of our body is appearing on screen.
While giving my shot in front of the cameras, sometimes my hand would not appear in it. So I learned all this only after performing Ek Do Teen. Thankfully, this major struggle of me learning to be able to face the cameras got over quickly.”
As for the one choreographer who made her nervous, Madhuri was quick to take Prabhudeva’s name. “While matching steps with him for Que Sera Sera, I not only got nervous but was awestruck watching him. He has oodles of energy while performing. I had to take a break to come back and perform with him. Initially, I felt very scared to perform alongside Prabhudeva. But once we started dancing we both enjoyed it a lot.”
The actress also talked about her experience dancing with her past co-stars, including Sunny Deol. “While dancing with Sunny Deol, I found him very simple that, he would always say ‘Aap dance karo, hum aapko follow kar lenge’ (You dance, I will follow you)”
And as for Ajay Devgn, the actress says that he “hates dancing as such. However, the choreographer always sets steps and movements in accordance to Ajay, where he is comfortable to catching up easily.”
Speaking about her last film, Kalank, which was trolled and criticized extensively on social media, Madhuri says it did not do badly. “What the audience prefers to watch is not under our control. But from our end, we all try to give them our best. We all have worked very hard. I always like to go ahead in life with a positive thought process. I do not like to look back,” she says. She adds that the film did pretty well in the UK.
What can we expect from Madhuri after Kalank, you ask? Well, Madhuri will reprise her position as a judge on dance reality show Dance Deewane. In addition, she is reading a few scripts and is also planning to produce a Marathi film.
