JAMMU, Jun 20: Natrang felicitated Mrs Indu Kanwal Chib, District Development Commissioner, Reasi on the concluding day of Mela Aghar Jitto-2019 for supporting Natrang initiatives aimed at reviving the priceless heritage and culture. Speaking on the occasion Mrs Indu Kanwal Chib stressed on the need of the preservation of traditional arts, ancient values and most importantly the respect and appreciation of artistic and creative endeavors. Focusing on youth and children, she desired younger generations to take lead not only in preservation of heritage, language and culture but also be the role models in conservation of environment, forest and water resources. She assured all possible help from the district administration to such initiatives which are aimed at the larger public welfare and education of the general masses.
Earlier welcoming the mammoth gathering at the main stage of Aghar Jitto, Natrang Director Balwant Thakur said that if such events like presentation of the stories of Shree Mata Vaishno Devi and Bawa Jitto are made a permanent feature and supported wholeheartedly both by government and public, they will not only revive cultural and community life of the area but will also become the ultimate world cultural destination.
Nowhere on this earth can one have such an occasion to see something out of the world happening on stage which transports together thousands of audiences to a live happening of 15th century. Nowhere in the world has a theatre performance attracted over this much audiences which happens here in the Aghar Jitto Mela.
There is a dire need to appreciate this rarest cultural strength of the region and state is required to promote, project and own this ultimate power of the community initiative.
On the occasion he thanked Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and all who supported him in his endeavors in the preservation of the priceless heritage of this region.
He also expressed his heartiest gratitude to the District Administration, particularly the Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Indu Kanwal Chib for supporting Natrang to make all this possible. Natrang has staged over two hundred shows of the play Bawa Jitto all-over India and as of now this play has become the longest living contemporary theatre production of the country which has again given a new cultural identity to this region.
