Training programme for farmers held by KVK Doda

JAMMU, June 20: One day training programme on "Market led extension through farmer organizations" was today conducted by the KrishiVigyan Kendra Doda at village Thallelea (Bhella) under the guidance of Directorate of Extension SKUAST-Jammu. The programme was organized by the team of scientists from KVK Doda comprising of Dr Narinder Paul, Dr AS Charak and Dr GN Jha and coordinated by Shammi Kumar Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Thathri. Dr Narinder Paul,acquainted the participants about the role of market led and demand driven approaches for making agriculture a remunerative enterprise and focused on the formation of Farmer Clubs,Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Farmer Producer Organizations as proper marketing approaches for the agriculture produce. Moreover, he stressed upon adoption of scientific crop production, protection and management technologies keeping in view the quality parameters as per market demand to get best out of the agriculture.
Participating farmers were also educated about record keeping andproper financial management of the agriculture enterprises through grass root level farmer organizations. He alsoinsisted uponthe farmers for building up village level institutional mechanisms by organizing in the form of farmer clubs or groups.
Dr AS Charak,shared with the farmers various tips for increasing the productivity of paddy crop and urged upon them to use balanced fertilizer doses and follow the recommended agronomic practices. Dr GN Jha, insisted upon to adoptcollective approaches infish production for judicious use of the available water resources for raising household income. Incharge Agriculture Extension Officer Bhella, Aftab Ahmad, Agriculture Extension Assistants (AEAs) Mohammad Aasif and Sajjad Ahmad and PRI members also participated in the programme.
