Police launches awareness programme on Drug Abuse

JAMMU, JUNE 21: In order to curb the menace of drugs from society and to draw specific focus on the issue of Drug abuse among the public in general and youth in particular, Today Doda Police launched awareness programme on Drug Abuse and distributed Pamphlets/ Brochure on Drug Abuse in Hindi/ English / Urdu containing information on drug abuse, its causes , Consequences and treatment. The main objective of the programme was to drawn the attention of general Public particularly Youth, School Children towards the ill effects of the drugs, which is a cause of concern and eating the young generation. The pamphlets were distributed among the general public, School Children at Bus Stand Doda, Pul Doda, Khellani and NHW-244. Besides poster of Drug abuse were pasted on the walls at various conspicuous places.
The awareness programme was organized by ASP Hqrs Doda Sh. Master Popsy on the directions of SSP Doda Sh. Shabir Ahmed Malik. Among others, SP Ops. Doda Sh. Ravinder Pal Singh, Drugs counselor Sh. Baljeet Singh and other officers of Police were present.
While addressing the press conference ASP Hqrs Doda Sh. Master Popsy counted in number ill effects of the drugs and also urged upon the participants to co-operate with Police and strengthen the hands of Police for curbing this menace. Drug addiction is a disease and must be treated like we treat other diseases. We are playing our role but we need collective efforts from Parents, Teachers, Social organizations, NGOs, Religious organizations and society at large.
