Provide adequate security, basic facilities to Amarnath pilgrims: KD asks Governor

JAMMU, Jun 23: Criticizing the State Government especially Power Development Department (PDD) for their failure to provide uninterrupted power supply in Jammu region, State President, Kranti Dal, Pritam Sharma demanded unscheduled power and water supply in Hari Market and its adjoining areas.
Talking to reporters, Sharma said that already maximum tourists diverted to Katra directly and those who left felt very upset due to power cuts.
He said for the last one month hoteliers and shopkeepers faced lot of harassment due the power cuts especially during night and improper water supply despite giving all rents to both the departments.
They said Amarnath Yatra on cards and pilgrims who are now reaching in Jammu also facing hardship due to unscheduled power and water supply in the City of Temples.
He warned the State Government to immediate provide unscheduled power cuts and maintain regular water supply otherwise party will start strong protest against the State government.
Briefing the media, Pritam asked divisional and district administrations along with all government departments concerned to gear up to ensure smooth stay of the pilgrims in the state.
He asked government administration to made elaborate arrangements at the Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar here for smooth and fair conduct of this year's Yatra by providing infrastructural and allied facilities like medical aid, police control room, state roadways counter, banking facilities, an information and announcement booth, cloak rooms, bedding centres, Langar, food court and so on. He also asked the government to tag all the vehicles of pilgrims which will help the authorities to trace them in case of any difficulty or deviation from their scheduled route, in order to ensure safety of passengers. He also asked administration not the seize the pilgrims inside the Yatra Base Camp Bagwati Nagar and allow them to visit outside the camp. He also suggested that all the vehicles of pilgrims would be checked at Lakhanpur and will send forward with tagged with sticker so that pilgrims would not be harassed by traffic police on the name of check at every points.
Other who attend the press conference includes raj Roop singh,Vijay Kumar, Karnal Chand, Tarun Gupta, R.K Sharma, Rajan Gupta, Anil Sharma, Amit Menia, Rinku Sharma and Akhil Gandotra were also present.
