SDA conducts intensive sanitation drive at Sonamarg, Baltal

GANDERBAL, JUNE 25: In view of ensuing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2019, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA) Showket Ahmad today kick-started an intensive sanitation drive from the SDA office Sonamarg.
Giving emphasis on sanitation, the CEO directed the concerned officers to keep the Sonamarg, Baltal Base Camp and its surrounding clean so that pilgrims shall not face any inconvenience. He also requested public in general and shopkeepers of Sonamarg in particular not to throw any kind of waste outside on the road.
He said that aim of such programs is to bring about a permanent behavioural change among the people and tourists by encouraging them to change their habits and keep the Sonamarg tourist destination free from litter and garbage.
He said that SDA will launch more such initiatives to spread awareness about sanitation and hygiene through action drives in coming days.
Describing the sanitation drive as a significant step, Showket Ahmad said such drives are much needed and the focus of the drive was to spread the message of a clean and green environment by ensuring cleanliness
Students and other civil society members also participated in the sanitation drive and pledged for clean environment and proper sanitation.
