JNEG celebrates Independence Day; hoists tricolour

JAMMU, Aug 16: Jammu Newspapers Editors Guild celebrated 73rd Independence day and the Guild members hoisted the national flag at the premises of hotel Lemon Tree Jammu.
The Chairman JNEG Mr Raj Daluja (Editor StateTimes), Mr A K Sawhney (Chief Patron Journey Line) alongwith Mr Ram Dubey Sr Vice President (Editor Kattu Satya), Mr Subash Mehra Vice President, Mr Vijay Gupta General Secretary (Editor Young Bites) Mr Vishal Chopra Joint Secretary (Editor Jammu Metro), Mr Amir Sawhney (Editor Journey Line) amongst others participated in the function.
Mr Raj Daluja and Mr A K Sawhney congratulated all the citizens in general and the members of the Guild in particular on the auspicious occasion of the Independence day of the nation.
Mr A K Sawhney President of the JNEG while addressing the gathering said that the Guild is a national spirited Editors Guild of J&K and whatever is in the national interest all are united for the said cause and raise their voice for fair reporting and national interest.
He also urged that the J&K State was now being transformed into a Union Territory, which is a welcome step and appeared to all media fraternity members to report fairly and fearlessly without any bias. Their reporting should be in the national interest as according to him the nation's interest is supreme and any adverse or fake propaganda agains the nation especially with regard to J&K must be countered.
He said that the media has a crucial role at this stage when the counterparts in Kashmir are facing a lot of problems and even they must be taken on board and must be made to understand the national interest and must be ensured that they don't fall into the trap of enemy or antinational elements. There are other issues of security of the nation and law and order issues and he said that time is not far when normalcy will come back in this new Union Territory and the UT shall tread on the path of development and will be one of the best places of the country, he hoped.
On this occasion the national flag was hoisted and the national antem was also sung by the members.
