‘I am on top of the world’: Shraddha Kapoor

After the tepid response to her film Batti Gul Meter Chalu in 2018, Shraddha Kapoor has had two big hits this year, and that, too, back-to-back. Saaho, in which she co-starred with Prabhas, and Chhichhore with Sushant Singh Rajput released within a week’s gap.
And, while the former bilingual outing, has reportedly already grossed nearly Rs 135 crore and is closing in on Gully Boy in Hindi, the Telugu version has collected Rs 146 crores at the box office.
Chhichhore, which released last week, has crossed Rs 50 crores and is still going strong in the theatres. Shraddha, who played a cop in Saaho and essayed a college student as well as a middle-aged woman in Chhichhore is elated.
“I am on top-of-the-world both my films have been received so well and loved by the audiences. Saaho is my biggest grosser till date. I am cherishing every bit of it. I am super grateful and happy about both doing well,” says she excitedly.
About the Nitesh Tiwari directorial, the actress says that she was thrilled to play both the age groups.
“Nitesh sir is an incredible director and the way he brought the Mayas younger and older on screen with sensitivity and love, I could connect with the emotions that she was feeling, the story and journey of the film. It came from the heart,” she elaborates.
Tell her that though critics have liked the part which depicts their college life, they have had issues with the portrayal of their older versions, and Shraddha says, “It’s amazing that audiences, through word-of-mouth, are the deciders of what content and film they like to watch.
They are the ones who have the final say. I am grateful that they went and saw the film in such large numbers, and enjoyed it.”
Riding high on the success of the two releases, she is now looking forward to her upcoming movie, Street Dancer 3D with Varun Dhawan.
“It is a sequel to ABCD 2 and reunites me with my gang. There’s been a lot of hard work behind it and is so varied from the current two releases. I am excited about it as I will be seen in a different avatar,” she signs off.
