Prof. Vinayshil Gautam Delivers Benchmark Series lecture at JU

Jammu, Sep 14: In order to make University of Jammu emerge an important hub of academic discussions, stir the thinking of various stakeholders for finding solutions to the burning problems of the region, one of the significant interventions has been the institution of Benchmark Lecture Series. This has assumed more significance in view of the fact that the University is celebrating fifty years of its existence. While on one side the University is evaluating its progress during the last 50 years, at the same time inviting Eminent Academicians for the lectures, is aimed at setting the path for the University for next 50 years It is expected that these lectures will help in identifying the ways the University can become more competitive not only in teaching and research but also in innovation and entrepreneurship. In the Benchmark Lecture series, in a short span of time, University has already organized four lectures by eminent academicians of great repute.
Prof. Vinayshil Gautam, Senior Adviser, TRIFED (Founder Director, IIM-K; 1st Head, Management Department, IIT-Delhi and presently Chairman, DK International Foundation, a globally acclaimed thinker, consultant and author delivered the 4th Benchmark series lecture on "Harnessing conventional wisdom and innovating for business success: a Paradigm in waiting" under RUSA (Rashtriya Uchatar Shiksha Abhiyan) in collaboration with Human Resource Development Centre, University of Jammu. Dr Gautam contemplated that the integrated management may hold the key to share prosperity rather than ploughing the glamorized fields of dogma with its attendant celebrity value. Dr Gautam highlighted the role of tribal communities who have played a pioneering role in protecting wildlife and forest.
Prof. Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu in his Presidential remarks said that the lecture by Prof. Vinayshil Gautam was truly a benchmark lecture, because the narrative which Prof. Gautam tried to put forward was inspiring and thought provoking. Prof. Dhar said that Dr Gautam has remained associated with University of Jammu for almost a decade and knows very well the dynamism of the University. Prof. Dhar echoed Dr Gautam in saying that Golden Jubilee is a watershed moment for any institution. In present scenario, it is a challenge for an institution to create a niche for itself, so that it can be considered a major contributor in the progress of the nation. India has since time immemorial been known as the repository of traditional knowledge, especially of medicinal plants and the world is now waking up to its treasure but unfortunately, there are cases of Biopiracy.
Prof Naresh Padha, Coordinator, RUSA 2.0 highlighted the various initiatives undertaken under RUSA 2.0.
Earlier Rahul Gupta, Director, HRDC, University of Jammu delivered the welcome address and introduced the keynote speaker to the audience.
Ranjeet Kalra, Assistant Director, HRDC delivered the formal vote of Thanks.
Among others, Prof. Rajni Dhingra, Dean Research Studies, Prof R.K. Ganjoo, Director, CDC, Prof. Rajnikant, Director, DDE, Dr Meenakshi Kilam, Registrar, faculty members, students and scholars were also present on the occasion.
