Clean Vaishno Devi Yatra Mission-2 organised

Katra, Oct 13: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board in collaboration with International Volunteer Foundation (IVF) organized Two Day Clean Vaishno Devi Yatra Mission-2 under 10th Edition of Save The Trikuta Mountains Campaign which was first launched in March 2014. The objective of Save The Trikuta Mountains is to keep holy Trikuta Mountains Clean, Green and Plastic Free. A rally of more than 120 students was flagged off by Padam Shri R.K. Sinha, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, Kakryal. In his address to the students, he stressed to shun single use of plastic and use cloth bags to save mother nature. The rally of student was received by Sh.Vinay Khajuria, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, SMV-DSB, Katra at Spiritual Growth Centre. He apprised the students about the achievements and continuous efforts of Shrine Board to keep holy Trikuta Mountains clean and green and appeal the student volunteers to spread the message of Swachta Abhiyaan lau-nched by Prime Minister of India. Kiran Kumar Sharma, Founder Save The Trikuta Mountains Cam-paign and Chairman IVF highlighted the achievements of previous campaigns and the role of students in raising awareness among the people about the importance of segreggation of waste and convert it into wealth. The student volunteers marched from Katra to Bhawan with high energy, raising slogans and launched massive cleanliness and awareness drive on the entire yatra route, village Droudh, bathing ghat, etc in order to educate the local residents, shopkeepers, vendors and yatris to keep surroundings of their homes, shops and yatra track neat and clean and not to use polythene bags, not to litter, not to throw plastic bottles in the gorges of holy Trikuta Mountains, do make use of dustbins, reuse plastic bottles by using filtered water machines installed by shrine board.
The volunteers also collected the non bio-degradable garbage in the gunny bags and distributed pamphlets among the masses. International Volunteer Foundation also honoured the staff members of Sanitation Wing of Shrine Board at Ban Ganga including the SKCs for their commitment and hard work in keeping the Ban Ganga clean.
The present on the occasion were Yugal Khajuria, Dean, SMVDU, Sumanta Sarthi Sharma, NSS Coordinator, SMVDU, staff members of Central Office, SMVDSB, Katra and Sunder Singh, Rajesh Sharma and Rohit Sharma, IVF members.
