Man climbs atop mobile tower

JAMMU, Oct 16: A mentally-challenged person climbed up a mobile tower in Trikuta Nagar area of Jammu city on Wednesday and was brought down by fire service officials safely.
Some people informed about a man atop a mobile tower in Trikuta Nagar, where a lot of people assembled triggering panic, an official said.
A police team rushed to the spot and a crane of the fire service department was brought, after which the rescue operation began, he said. They brought down a man, who turned out to be mentally challenged, he added.
However, a police spokesperson said that a person identified as Tersaim Lal S/o Roshan Lal R/o Rangoor Camp Vijaypur age 43 yrs, who is working as a labourer in Fruit Mandi Narwal, climbed a mobile network tower in Channi area of Jammu. Thereafter, the said person was unable to descend and was in dire need of rescue. Acting promptly, a joint team of District Police Jammu, SDRF and Fire Services swung into action and started the work of rescuing the person. After a nerve wracking exercise involving men and machinery of Jammu Police, SDRF and Fire Services, the person was safely rescued.
