JKSRLM concludes 8-day training prog

SRINAGAR, OCT 18: To improve the status of woman agriculturists and to enhance opportunities for their empowerment, 8 day Training Programme was organised by Jammu Kashmir State Rural Livelihood Mission (Umeed) in collaboration with National Institute of Rural Development & PR (NIRD Hyderabad).
A team of Experts from NIRD&PR imparted Training to District Programme Managers, Block Programme Managers of Umeed and project executives of MKSP.
During the training various traditional improvised techniques and Agricultural interventions were demonstrated with regards to Non-pesticide management and production of Bio fertilizers and feed formulation from locally available materials.
Speaking on the occasion, Mission Director JKSRLM, Abdul Rashid War said that the primary objective of MKSP is to empower women in agriculture by making systematic investments to enhance their participation and productivity and also to create and sustain agricultural based livelihoods for rural women.
Adding further he said that that a baseline survey of potential 16,200 Mahila Kisan have been completed and their credentials uploaded on the National Portal, besides the Mission has also conducted initial orientation on the Farm and Non-Farm livelihoods.
"The programme (MKSP) is being implemented in six blocks of Jammu and Kashmir on pilot basis and will be extended to other Agricultural Intensive blocks as well in future," he added.
