Programme concludes in 21 halqas, people register grievances, demands

SRINAGAR, NOV 30: Phase-II of 'Back to Village' programme which saw huge response filled with enthusiasm and high hopes for redressal of genuine developmental grievances, today concluded in 21 panchayat halqas of the district.
The week-long programme witnessed huge public participation in interactions, inaugurations of development works, awareness programmes on welfare schemes, Gram Sabhas, public grievance redressal camps.
The visiting officers were accompanied by officers from line departments to ensure proper understanding and recording of grievances and concerns which will be submitted to the office of the DC for further action.
In Gandthal, the visiting officer, Ghulam Hussain inaugurated a culvert at Mufti Bagh S.E canal which is being executed by Rural Development Department at a cost of Rupees one lakh. Pertinently, the R&B Department has approved reconstruction of two culverts at Manas and S.E canal in the area at an estimated cost of Rupees 19.59 lakh.In Theed-B, the Visiting Officer, Abdul Ahad Bhat visited Sharashbal and urged tribal population of the area to avail benefits of the government sponsored schemes. He also highlighted the significance of the Back to Village programme saying that the programme's sole aim is to energise the panchayats by making the idea of participatory planning a reality and listening as well as redressing the grievances of the public and providing basic facilities at their doorstep.In Theed-B, People demanded implementation of Water Supply Scheme (WSS) at Aabnag Sharashbal, setting up Fire Service Station in the area and Development of irrigation canals from Kanwan to Bilal Colony. People also demanded upgradation of Sharashbal and Chopan Mollha-Astan Sharif roads.
In Soitang people expressed satcification over various works approved in phase-I of the programme including fencing of graveyard at Ziyarat Sharief Gundbal, Soitang being constructed at a cost of Rs 2.62 lakh and construction of drainage at a cost of Rs 2.62 lakh at Gundbal Soitang.
The people demanded early completion of under construction Pandrathan-Wathpora Bridge.
