Back to Village-2 sees enthusiastic participation of people in Baramulla

BARAMULLA, NOV30: To mark the successful conclusion of second phase of flagship 'Back to Village' (B2V2) programme, a mega distribution cum awareness camp was today organized at Kanispora with District Development Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo as the chief guest.
On the occasion, DDC distributed Rs 1.23 crore among 1596 Building and other Construction Workers as financial assistance. He also distributed LPG Chullas among identified beneficiaries, sports kits among the youth, commendation certificates among the best performing farmers and other items of vital significance.
Dr Itoo also inspected stalls installed by various departments viz Horticulture, Agriculture, Social Welfare, Health, Education, JK Bank etc displaying various flagship programmes, products and machinery spearheaded by these departments.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC highlighted the objectives of the programme and said that the programme is a milestone in achieving rural development besides listening to the grievances and issues of rural folk at their doorsteps. He stressed upon the people to avail the benefits that can reach to them under the programme.
Meanwhile in connection with the valedictory day of the programme, visiting officers conducted various Gram Sabhas and public interactions at various Panchayats in which Panchayat representatives, students besides a huge gathering of people attended.A similar function was organized at Bella village of Boniyar block where several social and developmental activities were carried out by the DDC.
On the occasion, Dr Itoo distributed sewing machines, free books and uniforms, sports kits and other necessary items among the identified beneficiaries. A cultural programme was also organized by the students on the occasion which evoked applause from the audience.
