CWC organizes vocational training for mentally challenged children

JAMMU, DEC 3: A 10 day long vocational training camp for mentally challenged persons concluded today at Home for Mentally Challenged Children, Channi Rama.
The camp was organized by the Child Welfare Committee Jammu in collaboration with MG Institute of Fashion Technology which imparted training to the inmates.
The training was organized with an aim to empower these people in various vocations and train them towards self-sufficiency.
During the 10 day course, skill training sessions were held on sewing, bag making, stitching etc. The wares created by the participants of the camp were also displayed on culmination of the event. The wares included hand bags, paper bags and other hand-made items.
The camp witnessed active participation from the inmates who showed enthusiasm in learning these skills.
Divisional Commissio ner Jammu Sanjeev Verma interacted with the inmates and trainers and encouraged participants to learn these skills which will help them lead a financially secure and independent life in future.
The Divisional Commissioner also provided sewing machines for the camp to enable participants get hands on training.
The training camp was held under the supervision of Protection Officer (ICPS) Dr Anupa Sharma.
Chairperson CWC Jammu Shalini Sharma; Director MG Institute Maansi Gupta; trainers from MG Institute and concerned officers from ICPS and CWC were present on the culmination ceremony.
