SOG Jammu recovers huge quantity of Poppy Straw in Udhampur

JAMMU, DEC 3: Continuing its Crusade against Drugs, SOG Jammu achieved a major success by recovering Poppy Straw in two different raids at separate places under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur late last night .
Reports revealed that SOG Jammu laid a special naka with the sleuths of PS Udhampur at Udhampur . One truck bearing registration number JKO3D 7707 was made to stop which was coming from Kashmir towards Jammu and cops arrested one narcotic smuggler who was smuggling the 365 kilograms Poppy straw concealed in bags in the truck. The truck driver has been identified as Sunil Kumar S/o Dharampal R/o Gandhi Camp H.N.o B/2/80/6 Jalandhar. In this connection case FIR No 570/2019 U/S 8/15 Ndps Act stand registered at PS Udhampur. In another operation, SOG Jammu and Police Party of Udhampur during nakka checking at Jakheni at late last night intercepted one truck bearing registration number PB32E 7299 driven by driver namely Lucky S/o Anayat Massi R/o Chitta pindh District Jalandhar Punjab and recovered 346 kg poppy straw from the truck. In this connection case FIR no.571/2019 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act stand registered at Police Station Udhampur. The whole operation was monitored closely by SSP Operations Jammu Sandeep Mehta and was supervised by SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey.
The officers have urged the civil society to strengthen the hands of Police in weeding out this menace by providing the timely and actionable inputs about the movement and activities of these drug smugglers/peddlers in their respective areas to Police.
