Half-hearted work on STPs encouraging open sewage system: Raman Suri

JAMMU DEC 3: Appreciating the review of Jammu's development projects by J&K UT's Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State Executive Member Raman Suri said that Solid Waste Management and Street Lights are two major issues concerning Jammu City, which, when completed will change the face of the City of Temples. Raman Suri said that despite several meetings, the Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) has not been able to complete the laying of sewer lines in old city. Still worst is that lateral lines are yet to be connected to make the Sewerage Treatment Plants (STPs) fully functional. To add to the owes of people, JMC is continuing to reconstruct and remodel lanes and drains that too in places where sewer line is yet to be laid. This is going to cause huge financial losses.
Raman Suri urged the Lieutenant Governor to direct concerned authorities to illuminate very important roads that remain plunged into darkness during nights. The roads from Satwari to Kunjwani, Bikram Chowk to Jammu University and onwards, Dr B R Ambedkar Chowk to Narwal, Bagh-e-Bahu to Narwal, Parade to Bakshi Nagar through Brig Rajinder Singh Chowk via flyover, GMC Hospital Road from Bakshi Nagar to Canal Road, Circular Road, KachiChawni to Civil Secretariat road and many more remain under darkness due to no lighting system or faulty electrification.
