Administrator visits SMGS & GMCH to assess nCoV preparedness

Jammu, Mar 23: Amit Sharma, Administrator Government Medical College and Associated Hospitals Jammu today took a comprehensive round of Govt SMGS Hospital and GMC Hospital in winter capital of the Union Territory today to asses the level of preparedness to counter nCoV, generally known as Corona Virus which is looming a major challenge upon almost all the nations of the world.
Administrator Amit Sharma took a round of Centralised Emergency of Government Medical College Jammu wherein he visited Critical Care Ward No.4 of same and took a detailed spot report over the treatment and special care of patients admitted in this Ward alongwith Assistant Medical Superintendent Dr Bharat Bhushan, CMO and Para-Medical Staff, especially in the wake of ongoing COVID-19 conditions.
Amit Sharma directed the Security and related staff to strictly ensure adherence of one attendant policy with each patient inside all wings of Emergency so that the chances of spreading Infection and Virus could be minimised in the prevailing viral conditions.
He further directed that maximum attempts should be made to give treatment and advise home quarantine and bed rest as much as possible so the golden mantra of 'social distancing' can be religiously followed and maintained in the current scenario prevailing inside all the Healthcare Institutions.
Amit also visited Government SMGS Hospital wherein CMO Dr Sanjiv Parihar accompanied him during the rounds of different Wards. He appreciated less crowding in the premises of the Hospital including Paediatric Wards wherein patient-attendant ratio was also found appropriate.
CMO informed Administrator Amit Sharma that as per directions, Quarantine Wards here are in a ready state but the good news is that there are no occupants of same and they are lying vacant here as on date.
Before concluding the rounds, Amit Sharma advised that we are going into a critical stage and phase of nCoV now in India and maximum precautions should be prescribed to the patients and general crowd towards maintaining social distancing, frequent hand-washing and usage of sanitizers and masks as and when required.
The medical teams working here ensured him to keep spreading adequate awareness about the Virus and they should continue working with total professionalism in coming times to counter this biggest challenge of nCoV towards human existence with their best possible efforts.
