Kavinder stresses for intensifying COVID-19 testing facilities

JAMMU, May 18: Amid COVID-19, Bharatiya Janata Party, Jammu & Kashmir held a meeting of senior leaders, which was chaired by former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta, at party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar. Gupta was also accompanied by, State Secretary Arvind Gupta, senior BJP Leaders Varinderjeet Singh, Dr. Tahir Choudhary and State office Secretary Tilak Raj Gupta.
Many problems and issues were discussed in meeting. Gupta stressed for intensifying the testing facilities.
Gupta said focus should be on rapid tests in the hotspots and containment zones, where new positive cases have been detected, and in large migration gatherings, and evacuee centers.
Gupta added that Intensive testing and isolation of habitations will be the key to contain the spread, and there is need to intensify PCR testing (real time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction test (rRT-PCR).
In the last three days, the number of positive cases has risen again in Jammu as well.
So there is dire need of identifying persons with travel history, persons with symptoms and persons who have come in contact with active cases in hotspots area.
Gupta, while addressing the meeting, said that J&K administration is doing commendable job in bringing back the residents who are stranded in other states after consultation with the respective state governments, but added that Government should come up with a cumulative data of such stranded persons and chalk out a comprehensive plan to bring them back safely after letting them complete 14 days of quarantine prior bringing persons to J&K in a phased manner. "After screening and testing such people, the concerned State government should start the process of sending them back. After they are brought to the J&K borders, the State government should transport them to their districts by bus," said Gupta". Gupta stressed for preparing a working plan and come up with details in this regard.
Arvind Gupta said that persons, who have been quarantined since 12th of May in some of the centers, are still waiting for their reports and at many centers the quarantined persons have raised so issues of quality of arrangements. Arvind added that, since the effect of corona virus is going to stay foe some more time, Govt. should come up the different type of task forces for mitigating COVID-19.
