Vijaypur, May 20: J&K Apni Party appealed Lt Governor Girish Chander Murmu to review as to why Samba district has been kept under red-zone amid ongoing fourth phase of lockdown in Jammu and Kashmir. Expressing surprise over the keeping Samba under red-zone, the J&K Apni Party, senior leader, and former minister, Manjit Singh has claimed that the district has hardly seven to eight covid-19 positive cases. "The criteria adopted to keep one district under red-zone is beyond understanding even as no one has died due to covid-19. Vijaypur tehsil has not even a single positive case," he argued.
Former Minister said that districts like covid positive death has been Jammu and Udhampur districts, but not in Samba.
"This decision will hamper developmental activities. The industries in Bari Brahmana, and Samba will not be able to function properly with this decision," said Manjit Singh, former minister. The J&K Apni Party, senior leader, said the business establishments have been continuously closed in the district from last two months, and the shopkeepers have suffered losses.
"The Government should review the decision in the interest of the district which does not deserve to be categorized as red-zone," he appealed. He said that people are concerned about the decision and expecting a positive response from the Government. Manjit Singh said that in view of continuous lockdown and now restrictions under red-zone will be harsh, it will lead to financial instability among the people who were dependent petty jobs in unorganized and organised private sector in the district. The industries have not been able to work properly, and restrictions under red-zone will break the backbone of the industrial sector where manufacturing is most to restart financial cycle.
