AJKLTF Welcomes the National Education Policy 2020

Jammu, Jul 30: All Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Feder-ation (AJKLTF) affiliated with Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM) has widely welcomed the National Education Policy 2020, which is based on the concept of making the learner a global citizen as per the needs of the 21st century while remaining India centric.
Federation during the meeting in this regard held today under the chairmanship of Dev Raj Thakur State President and Rattan Sharma State General Secretary, said that the provision of promoting education in mother tongue compulsorily up to the Fifth standard and promoting education in mother tongue also up to Eighth and Upper classes, as far as possible, is a welcome step. The Federation finds it appropriate to pay special attention to childcare and their education in new Education Policy, because scientifically, large part of the brain develops upto the age of 6 years. Providing equal opportunities on the basis of background of birth and gender for universal access to education is very important for the all round development of the individual and society, which has been well taken up by the new education policy.
The meet said that it has always been the view of the AJKLTF/ABRSM that it is not appropriate to divide education into separate sections.
It is a matter of happiness that a provision has been made to eliminate discrimination in the education of arts, science, curricular, co-curricular, academic and vocational education.
The AJKLTF welcomes the system of integrated B.Ed degree course underlining the importance of quality teacher training for the quality education.
The system of appointment of teachers on transparent basis, restoring the dignity of teachers and participation in educational administration is also commendable in the new policy.
The Federation stated that the inclusion of Indian life values, traditions and Indian languages in the curriculum at every level in the new education policy to promote these values will definitely play a major role in creating a capable, glorious and self-reliant India . It is very important to give holistic and multidisciplinary education at the undergraduate level mentioned in the policy, so that the students will not only have mental but also physical, spiritual and moral development. This provision will have far-reaching positive effects, he stated.
