Ashok demands proper compensation for families affected by landslide

JAMMU, Aug 1: Ashok Kumar Former Legislature, Ramban has strongly protest against the Government of Jammu and Kashmir and urged upon the Lieutenant Governor to provide 6 months free ration, proper compensation and rehabilitation (5 MarlaPlot) to the 40 families who have been affected by the landslide as the result of impromptu and unscientific cutting of slopes by Gammon Company under National Highway Authority of India in the process of Construction of NH-44 Four lane Project below the Dalwas village in Ramban constituency. They are living hand to mouth on everyday basis under unprecedented covid-19 in near by Government High School from the last 4 months and have no jobs and their families are facing huge livelihood stress due to loss of their houses and land.
Ashok has further demanded to the government of Jammu and Kashmir to provide at least 9 months of free ration and other food items to the 40 beleaguered families as they have lost their jobs and livelihood in this tragedy. In addition, many among them have lost their menial jobs due to prolonged lockdown under Covid-19 pandemic. He also demanded that rent amount should also be provided to affected families until they settle or rehabilitate at some new place as they are under huge financial crisis. He also stress upon providing Gas cylinder to affected people.
Ashok has also stress for rehabilitation of 40 affected families on war footing basis so that they can survive in upcoming winter season. 5 Marla plots should also be given to 40 families along with free dry wood for the construction of new houses. Government of Jammu and Kashmir is non-serious for resolving rehabilitation process of these 40 affected families.
Even after 5 months, thelives of affected people is still miserable. He urged to all concerned authorities to seriously intervene in this matter to provide justice to the lives of innocent hilly people.
Ashok has strongly demanded that loan under Kisan Credit Card (KCC) should be waived off as they have lost their entire agricultural land and not in a position to pay installs on time.
Ashok has also strongly urged upon the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and Gammon Company to provide Financial assistant and temporary rehabilitation and food items to all the affected families of Dalwas Village as these people are innocent and have no fault in their loss of houses and Agriculture land.
