NC never cared for justice to refugees, Valmikis: Balbir

JAMMU, AUG 4: Jammu Kashmir, Bharatiya Janata Party, asks NC to update its leader about the ground developments after the abrogation of Article 370 instead of misleading public with baseless statements.
This was stated by Party Spokesperson, Balbir Ram Rattan, while reacting to the statement of the former Chief Minister & NC leader Dr. Farooq Abdullah, questioning the benefits after abrogation of Article 370.
Balbir reminded NC leader that thousands of refugees from West Pakistan, who had come to this side during the sad days of 1947 in wake of communal and painful division of India and settled in border areas of Jammu, majority of whom were SCs and persons belonging to other Backward Classes, are the biggest and living beneficiaries after the scrapping of the obnoxious Article 370. These people, whose three generations perished while agitating for justice, were never given even a humane hearing by the governments led by NC, which was infected by communal thinking and its ruling leaders denied them the basic human rights, which were enjoyed by such people in other parts of the country.
Balbir further said that large number of Valmiki families, who were brought from neighbouring state to Jammu and Kashmir to serve as safai karamcharis in wake of the strike/hartal by the local karamcharis about 60 years back on the assurance of granting citzenhip rights, have got these rights only after the abrogation of Article 370. Not only these safai karamcharis were denied the citizenship rights in the state but restrictions were imposed that their children even after attaining education could get the job of safai karamchari only and nothing more than this.
