JAMMU, Oct 26: District Congress Committee Jammu-Urban, on Monday, held a meeting to make necessary preparations for conducting district-wise programs to commemorate the 36th death anniversary of Former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi, as per the directions issued by AICC. The meeting was chaired by Former Minister J&K Yogesh Sawhney, General Secretary JKPCC & InCharge District President Jammu Urban and was presided over by Former Minister J&K Raman Bhalla, Vice President JKPCC. Various Ward Presidents, Block Presidents and various DCC office bearers were in attendance at the meeting.
Raman Bhalla, speaking in the meeting, issued directions to the present office bearers. He announced, that as per party directions, they will organise a Satyagraha on the 31st of October to step up it's protests against the BJP government for farmers' rights to mark the day as Kisan Adhikar Diwas. "The party will step up and accelerate its awareness program to awaken people to the unjust actions of the government, the economic degradation, the increasing inflation and costs, and anti-farmer agricultural laws among other things. Therefore, the party has decided to launch a series of programs against the anti-farmer, anti-women, anti-poor and anti-people policies of the BJP-led government at the Center", said Bhalla.
Presiding over the meeting, Bhalla further launched a scathing attack on the Union Government for endangering the livelihood and rights of the backbone of the country i.e., our farmers.
The coming Satyagraha will mark our resistance against them. "The BJP's attempt to fan hostility among the public by saying sugar-coated statements would not succeed as the miserable condition of the country in all walks and spheres of life is visible to all. The BJP then goes on to divert people's attention from real issues to save their power, and their authoritarian, extremely dictatorial strategies are only working against the country.
The political and communal turn each of the issues has taken had led to a series of conspiracies and conflicts only but no solutions. Even J&K has nearly succumbed to their dirty politics and abuse of power. Thus, the Congress party is willing to stand against such a government for as long as it takes.", he stated.
Also speaking in the meeting, Sawhney further elaborated on on party's future course of action regarding Indira Gandhi's Death Anniversary programs. 'To commemorate a great leader who contributed immensely to our nation, we will conduct satyagrahas and fasts in district headquarters against anti-farmer and anti-labour laws and other such contentious laws which prove detrimental to the betterment of our people', he said. Furthermore, he added that the BJP has abandoned the people of Jammu in a frenzy since the last one year in wake of promises and false narratives. However, it is imperative that we use our might and strength to fight the intensifying mistreatments faced by Jammu, he added. He said that the BJP needs to be further exposed in front of the people as it fails to control prices of important commodities, shows poor performance in the UT in improving administration, infrastructure or in provision of essential facilities and amenities, and as it further degrades itself by it's hate filled and provocative speeches.
