Kisan Sabha organizes one day Convention

JAMMU, Jan 10: The Kisan Sabha held one day convention today at village Rangoor Camp in District Samba to celebrate its 41st Foundation Day. Kisans from Jammu, Rajouri, Kathua & Udhampur districts participated. Comrade Natha Singh, trade union and Kisan leader of Jamhoori Kisan Sabha Punjab was the Chief Guest and Hari Chand Jalmeria founder of Kisan Sabha was the guest of honour. The proceedings were conducted by Dr. Ghanisham Singh Charak senior vice president of Kisan Sabha.
Hari Chand Jalmeria gave details of the history of Kisan Sabha and the struggles it fought during the past 41 years. He said that the Kisan Sabha has been fighting for the rights of the farmers and raising issues concerning them from time to time which included loss due to natural calamities, draughts, floods, border firings, monkey menace etc. Com Natha Singh threw light on the ongoing struggle of over 60 Kisan Organisations against anti-farmers laws passed hurriedly by the Union Govt. to favour MNCs and Big Capitalists. These news Acts would open the gates of exploitation of the farmers as well as consumers in the country, he added.
The Convention was also addressed by Uday Chand & Mohinder Singh Andotra vice presidents, Th. Dewan Chand General Secretary, Harbans Lal Saini, Kali Dass Sarpanch, Ravi Kumar, Pardeep Singh, Arvind Jalmeria & Jaidev Charak. They highlighted the issues of farmers community in J&K. The Govt. has abdicated its responsibility of making procurements of farmers produce at profitable rates, providing security to farmers from natural calamities and providing reservations to children of farmers in agricultures related departments.
