Yudhvir inaugurates district Jammu chess championship


JAMMU, Feb 22: Ashutosh Jamwal won the Jammu district Chess championship in open category. Surinder Gupta got 2nd position and Lakshya Choudhary got 3rd position. Aadhvik Gupta won in U-7 Boys category while Ishaan Choudhary and Devansh Got 2nd and 3rd position. In U-9 Boys category Paras got 1st position while Pazhany and Hazim got 2nd and 3rd position. Surinder Gupta also won in sub junior and Junior categories while Laksh Choudhary also won in U-13 and U-11 age categories. 2nd and 3rd position in U-11 category went to Abhiveer sharma and Aarav Gupta. Superb Jain won bronze in U-19 Boys while Ayush Gupta got bronze in Sub junior category.
BJP vice President of JK UT Yudhvir Sethi inaugurated Jammu district chess championship at NEK Hotel below Gumat Jammu today in the presence of Atul Kumar Gupta President All J&K Chess Association and Baldev raj Vice President. He appreciated the work done by chess association and assured full help to players and wished them good luck.
He said that these type of events give platform to youth and help in improving their personality. The championship is held under the Banner of J&K Sports council and All J&K chess association.
Senior open and age category competitions were held today. Girls events will be held tomorrow. Mr. Vivek Bharti officiated all the matches with the assistance of Ravi Sharma.
76 year old veteran player Rashid Feroze surprised everyone by participating in the event and was given warm welcome by association members.
