JKAACL’s 2 day JK Gojri folk music programme begins

JAMMU, Feb 26: A two day Jammu and Kashmir Gojri folk music programme, organized by Jam-mu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Lang-uages (JKAACL), began to-day at K L Sahgal hall, Jammu. Haroon Rasheed presi-ded over the function while Former MLC, Vibodh Gup-ta and Professor Shalini Raina were the guests of honor.
Secretary, JKAACL, Munir-ul -Islam said that JKAACL is committed towards promotion and development of all the regional languages including Gojri and this 2 day JK Gojri festival is a step forward in this direction.
He appreciated the scholars, writers and poets who worked tirelessly and still have been contributing a lot towards promotion of Gojri language.
Secretary said that in present era of globalization the language requires to have maximum translation works in other languages especially Hindi, Urdu and English so that other non Gojri speaking people get a chance to know about the literary and folklore work being done in Gojri through various means of present day technology. He added that the Academy is doing its best and has published various translation works and is having good readership even in the neighboring countries too.
Prominent folk music parties and noted Gojri singers from both Jammu and Kashmir divisions mesmerized the audience with their traditional and folk present.
The parties who performed in the event included Shah Firdous and party, Sameer Ahmed , Ajaz Ahmed, Ghulam Hussain Tabusam, Junaid Ahmed Dildar and MS Shabnam Akhtar, Basher Mastana, Qammar Shabwan, Yaseer Bashir while Rakesh Anand, Krishan Kumar and Neeraj Verma were the musicians.
